[PHOTO] Rye Historical Society Tours Greenwood Union Cemetery

With more than 25,000 inhabitants, Greenwood Union Cemetery is more populated than the City of Rye which comes in at only 15,000 people.

On a beautiful, fall Sunday, the Rye Historical Society held its Annual Historic Walking Tour fundraiser letting the tombstones tell the story of Rye's distinguished past. The African Cemetery, neglected for many years and segregated until 1964, embodied the complicated racial history of this area.
