First off, it is comical that the former principal of Osborn School made such incendiary comments inRead More a public forum, but that's Freedom of Speech, right? See http://www.myrye.com/my_weblog/2013/05/cheating-teachers-westchester-da-called-in-on-standardized-test-improper-coaching.html#comments As a former school principal, Ms. Zeppie should be well aware that teachers, school, and district administrators must report ANY testing irregularities to NY State. I find Ms. Zeppie's comments on this blog borderline unethical and actually "self-serving”. I applaud the district's efforts to take such allegations seriously (as any public institution must). Transparency is important in such matters rather than letting the rumors abound. I also applaud the parent who had the guts to share their concerns, and the administration for not "sweeping it under the rug." This all may or may not amount to much - but as a public organization, it is obligatory to take all such matters with the utmost seriousness. I caution all Rye residents before laying blame and making outrageous statements. This not “teacher bashing” or a “witch hunt.” The district is following the correct legal protocol. This is what is supposed to happen when allegations arise. Maybe some in the Rye community, and Ms. Zeppie, are use to just “looking the other way”? And if such allegations were made and the district did nothing..... I guess we'd be back here again with a different complaint.

Although I think Mr. Alvarez is a credible guy and a huge improvement over Shine, I agree with Mr.Read More Meyerson. The teachers deserved, and I'm sure earned, the benefit of the doubt and not the guilty until proven innocent treatment. Selective enforcement is prevalent in Rye especially at the Rye Police department where Connors routinely ignores major transgressions by cops he likes and goes after petty and made up infractions of cops he doesn't like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy8Nu7DxIV0 I believe the coach you are referring to has a lawsuit against Castagna and the school district. I heard the Rye PD had their own conflict and should have taken a step back. Instead they rushed to judgement and then botched the investigation from the very beginning. What else is new. I hear this coach did absolutely nothing wrong and is due a huge payday.

Miles, as far as your reference to the "tradition", if you notice my last name, you shouldRead More be able to put the pieces together. I, better than anyone know the "truth" to that situation. Why were the 26 other boys that the district knew about not punished? Why were 2 boys whose names wered mentioned in the police report suspended for the first three weeks of school and not arrested? My point is that this district has a reputation of punishment for a select few and not in a fair manner. Do you remember when the Athletic Director, Rob Castagna accused a coach of stealing from a students gym bag? That teacher was raked through the mud, had his name and picture plastered all over the media, and in the end, what happened? Nothing, other than tarnishing that coaches reputation. This district is notorious for "ready, fire, aim". My point is that they don't need to publicize things until they have their facts in check.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.

Don't feel so bad. The Patch doesn't even acknowledge that PC is a waterfront community. We've allRead More been shorted.
