Pink Eye Reported at Rye Camp

Two children who attend the City of Rye's Lower Camp have been diagnosed with conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, according to an email from the camp sent July 12. The email warns parents to watch for common pink eye symptoms: itchy eyes, excessive tears, irritated swollen eyes or eyelids, blurred vision, green or yellow discharge, painful dried or crusted discharge on the eyelids.

The letter wars that conjunctivitis can be bacterial, viral or allergic, so parents should call a doctor if they their child experiences any of the above symptoms. Children diagnosed may need to be excluded from camp but only a doctor can make that determination.
