Westchester Super Sprint Triathlon Doubles in Popularity

A press release from Westchester Super Sprint Triathlon

RYE, NY, August 30, 2013… Participation has more than doubled in the Westchester Super Sprint Triathlon (sponsored by Equinox) since its 2010 debut as part of the Jarden Westchester Triathlon. The 2013 edition, scheduled for Saturday, September 28, will take place in Rye, NY. The triathlon is geared specifically for newcomers and includes a 300-yard swim, 6-mile bike ride, and 1-mile run. It is open to adults and teens 15 years and older wanting to participate in a non-Olympic distance triathlon. Equinox, the upscale lifestyle and fitness leader, will return as the event’s main sponsor.

"The Super Sprint is designed to attract fitness enthusiasts who are new to triathlons and who want to get a sense of what the sport is all about,” said Chair Arthur Henderson. “There has been so much publicity surrounding the sport today and this came about as a fun, safe way to involve a new set of athletes.”

Approximately 50 participants have already registered for the Super Sprint, and additional slots are still available. The weekend’s additional events include the Westchester Kids Triathlon on Saturday, September 28, which takes place before the Super Sprint, and the Olympic distance Jarden Westchester Triathlon on Sunday, September 29. Registration for the Super Sprint event is $45 for an individual and $85 for a relay team (minimum of 2, maximum of 3 participants).
