Our weekly roundup of Rye sports.

The majorty of recreation teams around the Rye and Rye Brook area completed their second to last week of the regular season, while others are still in the heart of their season,  including Rye Little League Tournament teams.

Men's Softball A League

Mother Nature's thunderstorms forced the Tony's Legacy and High Intensity game to be postponed until July 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Rye Recreation Park.

Men's Softball B League

The second to last week of the regular season pitted first place Rye Liquor against third place Davy Byrne's, with Rye Liquor improving to 11-1 on the season in a 10-5 victory. Davy Byrne's rebounded on Tuesday however, beating fifth place Kelly's 14-8. Rye Liquor also earned their second consecutive win of the season, 19-7, over the sixth place Hammerheads.

Men's Softball C League

There is a tie between first and second place teams after second place M-n-M defeated the Rye Bar and Grill Hackers 14-8 Friday for an 8-3 record. Both teams have a bye before M-n-M resumes play Thursday against the Dublin Dodgers while RGB faces them on Monday. Other action from the week included third place Uncle Henry's- Gabelli beating the fourth place Wranglers 20-12 on Thursday. The Wranglers will have to wait until Thursday to tie the series with Henry's  due game cancellations on Monday.

Women's Softball League

The second place Poppy's Ballbusters are currently on a two-game winning streak after beating seventh place Davy Byrne's Rum Runners 10-3 on Thursday followed by a narrow 6-5 victory against the Hot Shotz thanks to a Stephanie Shaughnessy three-run homerun. F and A remains in first place and an undefeated 8-0 after routing the third place Legal Eagles 21-4 Tuesday behind five doubles in five-at-bats from Jill Rabius.

Rye Little League Teams

District 20's 9 and 10-year-old team lost to Eastchester 9-6 Tuesday in tournament team action. They next play Sherman Park at 5:45 p.m. on Friday at Disbrow Park after routing White Plains American 19-5 Wednesday.

In the 11 and 12-year-old division , after defeating White Plains National 1-0 on Sunday, Rye came back from a 3-0 deficit to beat Elmsford 5-3 on Tuesday, advancing to the next round of the winners bracket against Sherman Park on Tuesday at Volunteer Field in Hawthorne, N.Y. at 6:30 p.m.

The Rye Brook 11 and 12-year olds beat Dobbs Ferry 9-2 on Sunday, but then suffered a 10-0 defeat to Sherman Parks Tuesday. Next up is a game against White Plains American Thursday at 5:45 p.m. at O'Rourke Field in Eastchester.

Mens Softball

The Dirty Dawgs earned two wins this week routing fourth place P18 26-9, and 25-10 over the second place Q Dogs in the North League. The Q Dogs did get an 8-6 win this week over the South Leagues fifth place Soundshore Productions also in the North League.
