Daily Sports Digest: Rye Girls Win In Volleyball and Field Hockey

The Garnets started the week out on the right foot as both the volleyball team and girls' soccer squad won their games 3-2. Rye’s volleyball team will be heading to Harrison, and even though the two athletic programs share an intense rivalry the Huskies and Garnets will be putting aside their difference as they play for a cure in a “Pink Game.”

Game: Rye @ Blind Brook

Score:  Rye Won 3-2

Highlights: Rye defeated their cross town rivals in a thrilling 5 set match. The Garnets were led by Marisa Curlen’s 23 assists and Courtney Brown’s 13 kills. Alexa Alter had 20 assists in the loss for the Trojans.

 

Sport:  Field Hockey

Game: John Jay @ Rye

Score:  Rye Won 3-2

Highlights: The Garnets continued their great season as they chalked up yet another victory against John Jay. In the victory the Rye goals were scored by Annie Van Wagenen, Emma Brinkman, and Bridget Nagle. Lacey Collins had two saves in goal for the Garnets in the win.

 

Today’s Schedule

In field hockey, Rye will head to Harrison to take on the Huskies at 4:15.

In girls' swimming, Rye and Horace Greeley will meet up at the Hommacks Middle school at 4:30.

In volleyball, Rye and Harrison will face off against one another at Harrison at 4:30. The volleyball teams will be wearing pink to support breast cancer awareness.

In boys' soccer, Blind Brook will head to Briarcliff at 4:30.

In girls' soccer, Blind Brook will face off against the Rams at Port Chester at 4:30.
