The Top Spot:

Alex Gendelman of the Rye Country Day School was recently announced as this weeked Con Edison Athlete of the Week.

Gendelman plays soccer, basketball and baseball, and he serves as a captain for all three teams but he is best known for his skills on the hardwood. The senior has been on the varsity basketball team since his freshman season and in those four years he has been to the FAA final four twice and became the first ever boys basketball player to get to 1,000 career points.

Sport: Baseball

Game: Port Chester vs. Blind Brook

Score: Port Chester Won 8-0

Highlights: Kyle Drummond got the win for the Rams as he pitched six innings, striking out three and only allowed two hits. Offensively Drummond went 3-4, Chris Mott scored three runs and Jimmy Magrone went 2-2 with a run and an RBI in the win.

 

Sport: Baseball

Game: Nanuet vs. Rye

Score: Nanuet Won 5-4

Highlights: Nick DiBenedetto got the win for Nanuet as he pitched three innings and struck out three. Matt Flannery went 1-5 and scored a run for the Golden Knights. Jeff Dempsey went 1-2 with a run and RBI for Rye.

 

Sport: Boys Lacrosse

Game: Rye vs. Horace Greeley

Score: Rye Won 9-6

Highlights: Andrew Davis, Jack Hasselmann, Chris Santangelo, and Greg Stern each scored twice for Rye in the win. Alex Scott, Cory Ekstrom and Ethan Frieder scored twice for Horace Greeley in the loss.
