Daily Sports Digest: 11-12 All-Stars Reach Semi-Finals

The Rye Little League 11-12 all-star team is just a game away from the District 20 championship game. 

With a 15-4 win Thursday night against Scarsdale, Rye has advanced to face Ardsley tomorrow at 2 p.m. at McDowell Field in Ardsley. The winner will advance to the title game against Eastchester on Monday.

Olympic Sailing Team To Hold Party In Larchmont

The U.S. Olympic sailing team will stop off for a meet-and-greet in Larchmont on July 14 before heading over to London for the Summer Games.

The event is presented by the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound and Larchmont Yacht Club from 3-6 p.m. and will take place at the Larchmont Yacht Club.

“The Good Luck USA Send-Off presented by Maclaren” party is free to attend with advanced registration. Information about the party and registration can be found here.

The party will give fans a chance to meet the 16 Olympic and six Paralympic athletes. The team includes three members from New York: Amanda Clark from Shelter Island, Debbie Capozzi from Bayport and Erik Storck from Huntington.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
