Rye’s Next Generation of Actors Appears in Classic Tale of Cinderella

Five from Rye have roles in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella at Tarrytown Music Hall.

Love magic, fairy tales, and happy endings? Random Farms Kids Theater will bring the classic fairy tale Cinderella to life at the Tarrytown Music Hall July 29—Aug. 7.

The production is made up of more than 120 young people from the tri-state area who are divided into four casts.

“We are excited to be the resident children’s theater housed at the Tarrytown Music Hall,” said Anya Wallach, producer, artistic director and founder of Random Farms. “The children have worked really hard and we are very grateful to the Tarrytown Music Hall for teaming up with us to make it possible."

Some of the actors come with a wealth of theater, film and television experience, while others are fresh faces.

This summer’s production will feature five locals from Rye. One of the production's youngest cast members is Sammy Tambe, 7, who will be in second grade in the fall at Osborn Elementary School. Tambe plays a rat—part of Cast D.

“RFKT is a very fun place to act. I like Cinderella because I like the songs. It’s not just about learning your lines but choreography too. They [RFKT] keep me busy all the time. I also like that I can act with actors in bigger grades,” said Tambe.

At the other end of the acting spectrum, there are children like Lexi Staubi, a sixth grader at Rye Country Day School, who at 11 already has acting experience in several RFKT productions, TV commericals and other local company productions. Staubi plays Minerva, the younger stepsister in the play.

“I enjoy acting a lot. I work with such a great group of kids. It’s really fun. The people of RFKT are so kind and nice, I feel so welcomed—it’s great,” said Staubi. “I love acting so I stay focused on my role because I love it so much.”

Other Rye-bred youngsters featured in the play include Caroline Baldwin, Kyle Mandell and Kathleen Nicholas.
