Dear Rye City School District Families and Staff:
I would like to clarify information on our plans to make up the school days that were lost due to Hurricane Sandy. The Rye Record has printed an article titled, "Hurricane Sandy Likely to Shorten February School Break." This headline is inaccurate, as our District has certainly not made any official announcement or decision yet to take time out of a scheduled break. It is a possibility that we will do so, and we will alert you of any changes to our calendar as soon as possible.
At this time, we are still awaiting a response from the State as to whether the 180-day school year requirement will be waived in light of the State of Emergency that the entire region experienced. As I stated at the Board of Education Meeting on November 13, I hope to have an update for the Board and community by the end of the month. Please stay tuned for communications regarding this matter in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Superintendent of Schools
