Rye Brook Schools Chief: Enhance, Not Sustain, School Goals This Year

The Blind Brook Superintendent says the social and emotional growth of students is critical.

Dr. William J. Stark gave a passionate presentation at last week’s school board meeting, emphasizing that the district needs to not just maintain the status quo, but to enhance the school experience.

“This year’s goals present a departure from recent efforts to merely sustain the educational program in an uncertain economic environment. It is the view of this community that now is the time to enhance the quality of the opportunities offered to the students of this District by setting forth a vision and multi-year approach to instructional improvement,” Stark wrote in a letter to the Blind Brook community on Sept. 11.

Stark also urged the community to become active participants in this process. You can view his whole presentation here.

Also at the Sept. 10 school board meeting, Stark and the Board of Education announced that community conversations will be held monthly. Similar to the round table discussion on bullying, academic integrity and the honor code the community conversations will invite expert guests, school staff and administrators to discuss issues important to the school community.

The schedule for the community conversations follows:
