Blind Brook Approves Contract With Teachers Union

A message from the Blind Brook Board of Education President Nancy Barr:

Dear Members of the Blind Brook Community:

Last night the Board approved a new collective bargaining agreement with the Blind Brook-Rye Federation of Teachers that will be in effect until June 30, 2016. It is the culmination of two and a half years of talks between the Federation and the District.

I would like to thank Robin Willig and the other members of the Federation’s Negotiation Team, as well as Mr. Stark, Dr. Ross and my fellow Board members, both past and present, who worked hard to make this agreement a reality.

The agreement takes into account the difficult financial times and the recently enacted tax cap. It provides for meaningful savings for the District over the next three years. At the same time it provides total compensation for Federation members that is comparable to other area districts, allowing us to continue to attract and retain the most qualified and dedicated faculty.

Our Board knows that our teachers are as committed as we are to providing the best possible education to the students of Blind Brook. We look forward to continuing to work together to achieve our mutual goals and to strengthen communications between the District and the Federation.

A copy of the Memorandum of Agreement is posted on the District website.

Thank you.
Nancy Barr
President of the Blind Brook Board of Education
