No Contest for Rye Brook Political Seats This Year

Mayor Joan Feinstein is not seeking re-election.

This political season has been quiet in Rye Brook because the three candidates running for mayor and trustee seats do not have any challengers. Current Deputy Mayor Paul Rosenberg is running for mayor; Mayor Joan Feinstein has decided not to run for re-election. Incumbent trustee Jeffrey Rednick is running for re-election and Jason Klein is running for Toby Marrow’s trustee seat – Marrow has chosen not to seek re-election this year.

Rye Brook Together, a “non-political” group of residents from the village, nominated the three in early January.

Richard Gutner, Rye Brook Together’s Chairman, thanked departing Mayor Joan Feinstein for her years of service to the Village. “Joan has made a tremendous contribution to the Village, first as a school board member, then as a Trustee and finally as Mayor. She will be tremendously missed.”

Rosenberg served as a Trustee from 2003-2004 and then again from 2005 to the present. He played a key role in creating the King Street Athletic Field Complex and negotiating the cable television franchise with Verizon, according to Rye Brook Together (RBT).

Rosenberg works as an Executive Director at JP Morgan. He has served on various village committees and task forces.

“The Village Board will be working on several important issues in the coming months, including the Comprehensive Plan, regional flood control and the renewal of the fire contract with Port Chester. I want to continue my goal of providing excellent Village services to residents while keeping Village taxes as low as possible,” said Rosenberg. “Throughout my time on the Village board, I’ve worked to improve the quality of life for residents in the Village. Last year we increased services available to Village residents while keeping a 0% tax increase for Village taxes.”

Jeffrey Rednick

Rednick, a Rye Brook native, is seeking his second three-year term as a village trustee. He has served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Village Traffic Commission and as the Village Prosecutor.

“I was born and raised in Rye Brook and returned here after law school to raise my family because I believe it's a great place to live, “ said Rednick. “I’ve enjoyed my time on the Board. I want to continue to serve the community, particularly keeping a close watch on airport expansion and working on the affordable housing settlement.”

Jason Klein

Jason Klein was also raised in Rye Brook and moved back to the village in 2009. He currently serves as the Chair of the Village Advisory Council on Environmental Conservation. He holds a Masters in Public Administration and is currently the Curator of the Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. He is the President of the Board of the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County and an Overseer at Colby College.

“I immediately became involved in the community through the ACEC and now want to volunteer my efforts in a greater role in serving the community. I am most interested in environmental issues, such as sustainable development and storm water mitigation and feel that my environmental expertise will aid in the comprehensive plan process.”

The village election will be held on March 19. You can check your local polling place here
