What follows is a statement from City of Rye Mayor Doug French on Tuesday's arraignment of Scott Yandrasevich. Yandrasevich, former general manager at Rye Golf Club, faces a maximum of 15 years for stealing some $270,000 over 4.5 years, according to the Westchester DA's office.
"I want to thank the DA's office for getting us to this day—it was a long time coming. Scott Yandrasevich was Rye's Bernie Madoff and has allegedly perpetrated a crime against Rye going all the way back to 2008. Many people trusted him over the years from different Club Commission members, Council members, Mayors, Controllers, Managers and staff. I am glad he has finally been charged and is facing his crimes. The City will pursue through our insurance carrier in getting the stolen funds back."
