Power Expected for Majority of Rye Brook by Nov. 9

Dry ice available at AJP Community Center on Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. while supplies last.

Editor's Note: The following was provided by Rye Brook Mayor Joan Feinstein.

This is Rye Brook Mayor Joan Feinstein. Con Edison crews continue to work in Rye Brook to restore power with the majority of the village still without power.

The estimated date of restoration for the vast majority will be by Friday, November 9 at midnight although we anticipate that many will be restored sooner.

Dry ice will be available at the AJP Community Center 32 Garibaldi Place from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Saturday and again from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sunday while supplies last.

The AJP Community Center is available to receive information from village staff about what we have been told by Con Edison about restoration efforts, to charge phones, keep warm and you can use the computers to access the Internet.

Shelters are located in White Plains at the Post Road School, 175 Post Road and Chappaqua Crossing 480 Bedford Rd (the former Readers' Digest building).  For a full list of shelters, go to the Rye Brook Web Page at ryebrook.org.

Showers are available for Rye Brook residents from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at theClub @800 Westchester Ave, located in the RPW Building, 800 Westchester Ave.  Remember to bring cleansing products, shampoo, towel and soap.

Residents are urged to keep safety in mind and not to run generators indoors and to consider any down power lines as live.  Hanging branches or fallen trees can easily shift causing injury.  In the event of an emergency dial 911.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
