Killian Sworn Into Rye Council

Julia Killian was sworn in to serve the remaining time on former Councilmember Suzanna's Keith's term.

Julia Killian was sworn into the Rye City Council before the bond referendum workshop Wednesday night. Killian will serve the remainder of former Councilmember Suzanna Keith's term. Killian confirmed she will run for a regular term in the November elections.

Reached for comment before Wednesday's meeting, Killian said: "I look forward to my swearing in on Wednesday and the opportunity to serve all the people of Rye.  I am truly gratified by the broad support I have received across the community. We have many fiscal challenges facing Rye as do municipalities across the country. I look forward to evaluating the proposed projects for the bond issue and getting the most benefit we can for our taxpayer dollar."

with five yes votes and one abstention by lone Democrat Councilmember Catherine Parker. .
