FEMA's Westchester Disaster Workshop Saturday

The disaster recovery workshop is taking place Sat., Feb. 16 in Valhalla for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

There is still time for Westchester homeowners, renters and business owners impacted by Hurricane Sandy to receive information and file claims with FEMA.

On Saturday, FEMA is holding a Westchester Disaster Recovery Workshop, Saturday, February 16.  From 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., foks can stop by the free event at Mount Pleasant Town Court. (The court is located at 1 Town Hall Plaza, Valhalla.)

"These workshops give survivors a chance  to get their disaster assistance and recovery questions answered one-on-one, face-to-face," FEMA Public Information Officer Nate Custer said.

Tomorrow, reps from FEMA’s Individual Assistance, Community Relations, Mitigation and the National Flood Insurance Program, along with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be at the workshop to assist folks.

The new deadline to register a claim with FEMA is February 27, 2013. Applicants can also register by calling: 800-621-3362 (TTY 800-462-7585) or online at www.disasterassistance.gov or via smartphone or tablet at m.fema.gov.

As of February 13,  5,657 Westchester County residents/businesses have filed claims with FEMA, according to Custer.

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
