On Sunday, April 22, RecruitNY comes to Milton Point Fire Station, 560 Milton Road. The event will allow members of the community interested in serving as volunteers an opportunity to learn more about the department.
Volunteer firefighters must be age 18 or older and live in Rye or a surrounding community. No fire fighting experience is necessary. Rye Fire Department sponsors training provided by the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services and the State of New York's Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
There are also volunteer roles available for those not capable of firefighting activity. The department also needs volunteers for administrative work, fundraising, public education and other tasks.
