Carvin Launches Congressional Campaign Monday at Rye Town Hall

Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin kicks off his Congressional campaign Monday morning on the steps of Rye Town Hall.

Last week, Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin announced his decision to run against US Congresswoman Nita Lowey for the 17th District seat. This Monday morning, Carvin will officially launch his campaign with a press conference from the steps of in Port Chester, NY. 

Hedge fund manager Carvin initially announced plans to challenge US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, but after a Republican party caucus in Rochester, NY, Carvin decided to stand aside for US Representative Bob Turner. And in politics in seems, turnabout is fair play. Fellow Republican Anthony Mele announced Sunday night, he would step aside to support Carvin's run for Lowey's congressional seat.

According to reports available from the Federal Election Commission, US Congresswoman Nita Lowey had nearly $900,000 in her campaign war chest as of this past December. The same source estimated Senator Kirsten Gillibrand with more than $8 million in cash on hand.
