Rye Brook Shooting Address Under Investigation

The Rye Brook house where a shooting took place on Saturday is under investigation for overcrowding.

No new details have been released by Rye Brook Police about the suspects and victims involved in at 3 Roanoke Ave. Now it appears the house itself is the subject of an ongoing investigation for overcrowding.

According to a press release about the Saturday shooting from the Rye Brook police, "a dispute occurred in the upstairs apartment of the home between the occupants of the residence and some invited guests."

Police have not released details about how many people claimed to reside at the address at the time of the incident or the nature of the relationship between the occupants.

According to Village Administrator Christopher Bradbury, the owner of the house at 3 Roanoke Ave. was fined for overcrowding in 2006. Bradbury said there is currently an ongoing, active investigation at the same address "for similar issues."

The Cape Cod style house at 3 Roanoke Ave. was originally built in 1930 and has three bedrooms and two baths. It is zoned as a single family dwelling.

Two men in their twenties were shot during the incident; one last reported in critical condition with a gun shot wound to the head, the other in stable condition with a gun shot wound to the buttocks. Both were taken to Westchester Medical Center for surgery after the shooting, which took place Saturday night around 8:40 p.m.

The last shooting incident in Rye Brook occurred in 2003, according to Rye Brook Police Lt. Eugene Matthews. That incident involved a fatality.
