Police: NYC Man Caught with Kilo of Coke in Rye

 The following is a press release from Westchester County Police Department:
  Westchester County Police arrested a Manhattan man and seized a kilo of cocaine that was hidden in three separate aluminum cans labeled as pinto or kidney beans.

 Detective Emil Garcia of the county police stopped a van for a traffic violation on Playland Parkway in Rye at 9:15 p.m. He detected an odor of marijuana in the vehicle and requested that Detective Mark Carey and narcotics detection canine Philly come to the scene.

 A passenger in the van was found to have a small amount of marijuana and was issued a summons for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation. Philly also indicated on the presence of narcotics in a bag belonging to another passenger that contained three sealed cans of beans.

 County police took the man into custody and obtained a search warrant for the cans.

When opened, the cans were found to contain three separate packages of cocaine totaling 2.3 pounds.

 Rafael Marte, 24, of West 162nd Street in Manhattan was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, a felony. He is being held without bail at Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.
