Man Sentenced for 'Up-skirt' Videos at White Plains Target

Jose Piedra of Sleepy Hollow was sentenced today after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge in September.

A Sleepy Hollow man has been sentenced to serve one to three years in prison for using a cell phone to record video under the skirts of White Plains shoppers without their knowledge.

Jose Piedra, 48, pleaded guilty in September to second-degree unlawful surveillance, a felony, after he was accused of shooting video under women's skirts in 2011. Store security at Target in White Plains observed Piedra suspiciously walking around the store and recording video on Aug. 22, 2011.

Police responded and arrested Piedra in the store. Security told police that Piedra had attempted to record the privates of another woman while police were looking for him.

Police used a search warrant to check Piedra's phone, where they found several compromising video clips of at least three woman, according to the Westchester District Attorney's Office.

After serving his prison term Piedra, of 18 Kimball Ave., will have to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registry Act.

Assistant District Attorney Michelle Lopez, Deputy Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau, prosecuted the case.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
