Spring Cleaning Left You Wondering Where to Donate Furniture?

You've heard of a food bank. Furniture ShareHouse is a "furniture bank." It benefits families whose budgets for rent and food leave little for furnishings.

Westchester non-profit "Furniture Sharehouse" will accept your gently used furniture this weekend at Westchester County Airport.

The benefits of donating furniture are two-fold: Your donations keep reusable material out of the waste stream, while providing free furniture to economically disadvantaged individuals and families in Westchester County.

Furniture ShareHouse bills itself as "the ultimate recycler," keeping items that residents no longer need out of the waste stream.

Furniture ShareHouse provides free furniture to Westcheser residents who may be, for example, families moving out of homeless shelters into permanent housing, battered women and children escaping domestic violence, working families struggling to stay above the poverty line, or young adults aging out of foster care.

Currently Furniture ShareHouse has an urgent need for tables, chairs and clothes dressers. They seek donations of kitehcn or dining room tables and chairs in order for families to have a spot to gather.

Furniture ShareHouse has arranged for a drop off location on Saturday June 15th at Westchester County Airport. They request an email in advance to office@furnituresharehouse.org to let them know you're coming.  Click for directions to the drop off site at the airport.
