Rye Sustainability Committee Forum

Rye City Mayor Douglas French and the City’s Sustainability Committee are hosting a “Rye Sustainability Forum” on Thursday, March 31 at the Rye Free Reading Room.  The event will start with sign-in and refreshments at 7 p.m. 

The Community’s stakeholders, including school administrators, governmental, religious and social institution leaders, as well as the general public are invited to attend.  The Forum will feature an evening of informative and interactive discussion regarding Rye’s future as a sustainable community. 

The forum will educate attendees as to what a sustainability plan is, why it is important, and what the creation of a formal plan for the City of Rye will entail.

Speakers at the forum will include:

  • Noam Bramson, Mayor of New Rochelle – “Putting A Sustainability Plan Into Practice – Experiences in New Rochelle”
  • Melissa Everett, author, columnist, and career counselor – “Municipal Sustainability Collaboration Through the Hudson Valley Resource Center for Sustainable Communities”
  • Suzanne Clary, President of the Jay Heritage Center – “Geothermal  Energy, Education and Sustainable Landscaping at the JHC”

Mayor French and the Sustainability Committee want to gather feedback from the attendees.  This will help determine the direction and content of the sustainability plan, and provide insight as to the community’s concerns and questions.

The Rye Free Reading Room is located at 1061 Boston Post Road.  The facility is handicapped accessible.
