Two Men Charged With Selling Counterfeit DVDs in Rye

Westchester County Police arrested the men Wednesday night.

Two Queens men tried to create their own makeshift version of Blockbuster Wednesday night, when authorities arrested them after they found hundreds of counterfeit DVDs in the suspects' car.

Westchester County Police arrested Oscar Munoz, 26, and Anthony Torres, 34, both of Corona Queens Wednesday night near Playland Parkway.

County Police Officer Emil Garcia was on patrol outside Playland around 6:30 p.m. when he saw a 1998 Ford Escort fail to stop at a stop sign at Playland Parkway and the Playland Access Road. After stopping the vehicle, Garcia determined that neither Munoz nor Torres had a valid driver's license. The vehicle was then impounded and the counterfeit DVDs were discovered during an inventory search.
