Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Snow, RAC Exhibit

Five things you need to know to finish out the week, Jan. 16-21.

 1. Rain, Snow and Sleet

The National Weather Service forecasts rain, snow and sleet before 1 p.m. and then a chance of rain. Wednesday night is expected to be cloudy with a low around 32. The sun is expected to reappear on Thursday, which is expected to have a high near 41.

2. Rye Golf Club Meeting

The Rye Golf Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, mostly under closed session to discuss personnel, according to a discussion at last week’s City Council meeting. During Rye City Mayor Doug French’s update at the Jan. 9 council meeting, he said if and when any charges are brought against anyone currently under investigation, those charges will be made public.

3. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Monday, Jan. 21 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the celebration of Dr. King’s birthday (which is Jan. 15) and a time to recognize and reflect his work to end discrimination and fight for civil rights. City and Village government offices and schools are closed. 

4. Student Member Exhibit at Rye Arts Center

If you missed the opening of the annual student member exhibit at Rye Arts Center last weekend, you can still check out the show. The exhibit is open during operating hours until Saturday, Jan. 26.

5. Rye Brook Waxing Place Opens
