Sidewalk Sales Start, Rye Merchants Eye the Sky

Purchase Street merchants aren't letting the weather forecast dampen their spirits today. Sidewalk Sales which runs through Sunday starts today with participating Rye merchants offering deep discounts and planned sidewalk displays to promote local business.

An overnight weather advisory cautioning the possibility of severe thunderstorms means merchants may go to Plan B. Wright said many shopowners are keeping indoors until the skies clear and keeping a sharp eye on the tents in case of wind.

But the shopping is definitely underway. Grab an umbrella and head to Purchase Street.
