Rye Business Owners Dish Out A Slice of Rye

Discover Rye area treasures as 1st annual event promotes shopping and local business pride.

Many Westchester villages and towns have special days devoted to increasing awareness of the high caliber businesses, specialty stores and services they provide. Rye is fpollowing suit with the upcoming Slice of Rye.

To date, more than 30 Rye businesses have signed up to participate in The Slice of Rye event on Saturday, September 10th between 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. One of the participating businesses include women’s clothing and jewelry boutique Weezie D.

“We are so excited about The Slice of Rye,” said Louisa McTurner, owner of Weezie D. “We have been in Rye for over a year and it’s a great community.  We are planning a wonderful sale (on that day) and have a special surprise for all of our customers wearing a wristband. We want to inspire people to shop locally and support us so we can continue to exist here,” continued McTurner.

Ana Sobalvarro, owner of Blush Beauty Bar agreed.

“We would definitely like to see more traffic in Rye. By participating in The Slice of Rye, I hope that it will make people more aware of our products.  We don’t just carry soap and beauty products, we have so much more. We are a great gift store. Our store has something for everyone,” said Sobalvarro.

Rye is a wonderful community to provide services in but many people leave Rye and go to other neighboring villages to shop. Owner Liz CiBartolo of Euro Laser Medical Spa hopes The Slice of Rye will change that.

“Anything we can do to keep the business in Rye instead of shoppers going else where is good. I am involved in The Slice of Rye to support the shop local initiative,”said CiBartolo.

A wristband is required to take advantage of the special gems each store contains whether it is a special discounted sale, raffle, food, game and more.

Shoppers can purchase a ticket for $5 at Rhythm in Rye or with interior design company The Open House. Then on event day, bring the ticket to Rhythm in Rye for a wristband. Each wristband comes with a list of participating businesses and their location, then the fun begins.
