At the Cap: Scopoletti; Melvin Seals & JGB; Drive-By Truckers; Thorogood and the Destroyers

A mix of soul, funk, blues and country music at The Capitol Theatre this month.

The Capitol Theatre opened March with the the jazzy, funky sound of Deep Banana Blackout and it will end the month with the rock blues music of George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

Charlie Scopoletti’s Truth Concert and Charity Event is this Thursday, March 7. The Port Chester native’s “perspective music” concert will help raise money for Imerman Angels, which connects cancer survivors with patients, and the Natalia Crespo Eirin Foundation, formed and named in memory of Scopoletti’s childhood friend who died of brain cancer at a young age. Scopoletti will be performing with a 12 or 13 piece band.

Melvin Seals & JGB, credited for helping to create “jam band music” will bring their mix of R&B, blues, funk, rock and jazz to The Cap on March 8 and 9.

“Soulful country” comes to the Cap with the Drive-By Truckers and Old 97’s on March 15. And the last March show scheduled is the bluesy George Thorogood and The Destroyers and the Slide Brothers on March 16. The Destroyers are best known for “Bad to the Bone,” and their chart-topping blues music over the last two decades.

Here is the schedule for the month:

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
