Red Mango, Rye Radiology Team Up for Breast Cancer Research

On Oct. 24 and 25, support the Westchester Making Strides for Breast Cancer Foundation as a yogurt from Red Mango prompts a donation from Rye Radiology.

Thanks to MSCO Media for this press release. Click here to post an announcement to Patch.

Rye Radiology and Red Mango are joining forces on October 24th (in Larchmont) and the 25th (in Rye), to raise breast cancer awareness and donate to the cause. For every yogurt sold at Red Mango, Rye Radiology will donate 20 percent of the proceeds to the Westchester Making Strides for Breast Cancer Foundation for breast cancer research.

With one in eight women getting breast cancer and 75% of all cases occurring in women who have no family history, breast cancer is truly an epidemic among women.

There is a 49% reduction in breast cancer mortality for women who are screened, which is why Rye Radiology has invested in a new 3D mammography machine  - Hologic’s Selenia Dimensions 3D Digital Mammography System - which finds more cancers than conventional mammography. By taking millimeter-thin images through the entire breast, this new technology increases accuracy and helps radiologists better discern between cancer and normal, harmless breast densities.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation estimates that each year over 200,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed and over 40,000 patients will die from the disease.

Here is a video link describing the 3D process. http://www.ryeradiology.com/3d-mamography.html

Dr. LoRusso has been the New York State Breast Cancer Spokesperson for the American Cancer Society, is a former director of the Westchester American Cancer Society and has been chairperson of the American Cancer Society Westchester Division Breast Cancer Task Force. She has spoken on national television, radio talk shows and to women's groups about the importance of mammography screening.

Drs. LoRusso and Calamari received Castle Connolly “Top Doctor” awards based on ratings by fellow physicians and voted Best Doctors in 2012 by Westchester Magazine. Rye Radiology is a full-service imaging facility offering 3D and 2D digital mammograms, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and breast biopsies.

Let's look at the appropriateness of this post. First, it's clearly an ad because it points to aRead More specific insurance agent at a specific agency to contact. Second, it attempts to hide being an ad behind what may be useful information (or not). Third, the "person" who posted it doesn't use their real name. Instead, they use a pseudonym Divorce Information NOW. That doesn’t seem terribly reassuring to me. This the third advertising post on the “announcements” space since Rye Patch converted to the new site layout. Seems a bit of a mess to me. But hopefully someone will come along and figure out who the real poster is, their link to the advertised agent and agency, and then delete the post. After all, if it’s an ad, it should be labeled as such and the poster should pay for having it run. If that doesn’t happen, Patch won’t be able to pay its employees to keep real content on the site.
