Local Gallery to Present Artists at "ArtHamptons" in July

Glenn Aber Contemporary Art, a gallery in Rye, will feature two photographers at Art Hampton" from July 11-14 in Bridgehampton, NY.

Glenn Aber Contemporary Art of Rye will feature photographers Mark Kessell and Marianna Rothen at "ArtHamptons" in Bridgehampton, NY, which will take place on Long Island from July 11th-14th.

Aber, an art enthusiast with wide and varied interests, previously hosted contemporary Vietnamese art exhibit at his home gallery. The ArtHamptons annual event, billed as the nation’s premiere summer fine art fair, draws talent from around the world.

Mark Kessell is an Australian artist based in New York who uses a variety of media including daguerreotypes, photography, installation, animation and sound, according to a release from Aber. Kessell's work has been exhibited and acquired by museums and institutions in the US and Europe, and has been the subject of a documentary feature film, several books and a New York Times article. Kessell’s images have been used in movie posters, magazines and newspapers.

Marianna Rothen's photos take their cues from classic art house cinema, according to Aber, creating narratives of women that struggle with their identity and power beyond the old images of femininity. She uses available or film lighting and mixes traditional photographic processes with digital media. Her work has been exhibited in Paris, Sydney, New York and Cologne, most recently at the Kaune, Sudendorf Gallery. Rothen's work is collected by U2’s Adam Clayton, The Strokes Albert Hammond Jr. and Rachel Weiz among others.

ArtHamptons, according to its website, is the seminal art buying event of the year, returning to the 95-acre agriculture reserve of Sculpture Fields of Nova’s Ark in Bridgehampton. The event will be staged in a 50,000 sq ft modular museum-like building with 12 ft high exhibition walls  located in one of the most posh neighborhoods in the Hamptons.
