Twilight Tuesday Concert -Billy and the Showmen

The Legendary R&B Band “Billy and the Showmen” will be performing a concert at Rye Town Park as part of the park’s Twilight Tuesdays concert series.

The concert will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at the park’s south pavilion, located by the beach near the Dearborn Avenue entrance to the park.  The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m.  Admission is free, and parking at Rye Town Park will be $2 after 6:00 p.m.   Nearby residents are encouraged to walk.

Founded by Billy Frenz, the Greenwich, Connecticut-based band has earned its reputation as one of Connecticut's most enduring Rhythm & Blues bands.

Longtime veterans of the Connecticut / New York club scene, the Showmen are a genuine R&B band.  The Billy and the Showmen R & B Revue feature the soulful vocals of the best R&B singers in the Northeast, along with a strong horn section and a tight rhythm section.

Space in the pavilion will be set aside for dancing, which is highly encouraged.  People of all ages are encouraged to join in the fun.

All concerts will be held rain or shine, except in case of thunderstorms.  Picnicking is welcome.  Some seating will be available, but people are encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs.  Dining and takeout is available at the nearby Seaside Johnnie’s Restaurant.

This is the fifth of seven free concerts that will be held on Tuesdays in July and August.  The concert series is sponsored in part by the Friends of Rye Town Park.
