Free Museum Theatre Program for All Ages - "Striving For Freedom: The Jays and Emancipation"

Free museum theatre program at the Jay Heritage Center's Carriage House.  Professional actors portray the lives of two sisters enslaved by the Jay Family, who were separated, reunited, and eventually freed.  Based on historical research, "Striving For Freedom" is an original play that includes interactive segments for children.  Young students learn about American History and can choose to come up on stage and test their acting skills.  A 45-minute performance is followed by a brief Q&A and free refreshments.  Program is especially geared to children age 8 through 15, but all ages are encouraged to attend. In honor of Black History Month, JHC presents this rare opportunity for the public to view a program that is traditionally shown for schools throughout the year.
