Storm Hercules News for Rye:

Luckily Rye Students are still on their vacation break from school.

UPDATE: The Science Show and Ice Cream Social at Rye Recreation has been cancelled for today.

UPDATE: Rye City reminds residents and business owners, when clearing driveways/sidewalks, please do not push snow into the street; it impedes clearing and is dangerous. Snow removal contractors and residents are reminded: please do not push snow into the street. Doing so impedes road clearing efforts, and also is dangerous -- mounds of snow on cleared streets create a hazard for moving vehicles.

UPDATE 12:03 PM- REMINDER:  Rye City Code requires sidewalks to be cleared within 24 hours of the end of snowfall.

Residents and property owners are reminded that sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours of the end of snowfall. Please assist in maintaining safe walkways for pedestrian passage. The text of Section 167-47 of the City Code is included below:

UPDATE: The City of Rye's Sanitation Pickup is canceled for today, Friday, January 3rd due to the storm. A truck will be available at the Department of Public Works for any residents that need to drop off refuse. Regular Sanitation Pickup will resume on Monday, January 6th. We ask residents to stay off the streets so that Public Works Crews can continue to clear all roadways.

MTA is operating on a Saturday schedule.

The Rye Y will have a delayed opening on Friday morning due to Storm Hercules. The Rye Y will be opening up at 11am, as of now but that could change depending on the weather. The Wainwright House will be closed until 1pm, Vacation camps will start at 11am, if children are in a half-day camp, then the camp director will be in touch.

The Rye Nature Center is cancelling their Friday, Jan 3rd, Vacation Day Camp due to Storm Hercules.
