Port Chester schools were closed Tuesday, and there have been some changes to area programs.

At the Rye YMCA, The Healthier Sound Shore Coalition Teen Panel scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled due to inclement weather, according to its website.

City of Rye Recreation says Tuesday’s ice skating program is cancelled, and that “Games & More” for Wedensday is full (no drop-ins allowed) and that ice skating for Thursday is full.

It isn’t clear whether the Rye Free Reading Room is open as usual, 1 to 8 p.m., or the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library. Attempts to reach the libraries by phone were not successful. However, there is no indication on either website that the facilties are closed Tuesday.

Here’s a link to traffic cameras on area highways, including I-95 just south of the Connecticut border, Exit 21 Rt 1-287, Exit 18a Mamaroneck Avenue, Exit 16 Cedar Street and Exit 15 New Rochelle.

The area is under a Winter Weather Advisory through 5 p.m.

The Rye Free Reading Room is open today and you can come in from the cold and warm-up as they have rekindled the tradition of lighting a fire in the fireplace. Many thanks to Director Chris Shoemaker for bringing back this one hundred year old Rye fireside tradition. Douglas Carey

Doug, do they only do that on snowy days? I wish I'd known, that would have made for a really nice break today between dog walks. I probably would never have left...sounds lovely.
