Moms Talk: Are You Moving?

First Lady Michelle Obama continues with her campaign against childhood obesity with a new ally, pop superstar Beyonce. Is it working? Has the campaign got you going?

Last February, First Lady Michelle Obama took on the issue of childhood obesity. One in three American children are overweight or obese, according to the Let's Move campaign website. The campaign aims to get parents and children, as well as the public and private sector talking and moving on solving this problem.

Unhealthy lifestyle changes, including larger portion sizes, sedentary recreation and more caloric, sugar-filled snacks are among the culprits causing the thirty-year trend from fit kids to fat ones. The result has been a decline in children's mental and physical well-being.

What do you think of the First Lady's campaign? For every champion, like chef Jaime Oliver who has launched a one-man Food Revolution to change school lunch programs across the nation or pop singer Beyonce who has released a remixed dance single and music video to get the word out, there have been critics. Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and radio commenter Rush Limbaugh have openly mocked the Let's Move campaign and Michelle Obama.
