Family Services of Westchester to Hold Informational Meeting on Foster Parenting at Port Chester-Rye Brook Library

Family Services of Westchester will hold an informational meeting at the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library about foster and therapeutic parenting. The workshop is scheduled for July 29th, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Family Services of Westchester will discuss the benefits of foster and therapeutic parenting including giving children a safe, consistent and structured home environment where a child with social or emotional problems can develop skills he or she needs to succeed in the home, school and the community. Tips on how to give emotional support and encouraging a cooperative family lifestyle for children who want to reunite with their biological families will be discussed as well.

Foster and therapeutic parents will receive specialized parent skills training, 24-hour support from professional program staff, weekly home visits from program staff bi-weekly group support sessions, respite services and monetary compensation.
