Billy & the Showmen to Perform a "Twilight Tuesdays" Concert

The Greenwich-based R&B band are scheduled to perform at Rye Town Park on July 23rd at 7:30pm.

The R&B band "Billy and the Showmen" will perform a concert at Rye Town Park on Tuesday, July 23rd. The show is part of the park's Twilight Tuesdays concert series. The concert will be held at the park's south pavilion, located by the beach near the Dearborn Ave. entrance.

The concert will start at 7:30 pm and end at 9:00 pm and admission is free.  The fee for parking is $5.  Permit holders pay $4 after 4 pm.  Nearby residents are encouraged to walk.

Founded by Billy Frenz, the Greenwich, CT based band has earned its reputation as one of Connecticut's most enduring R&B bands, according to a release from the town park department.

Longtime veterans of the Connecticut-New York club scene, the Showmen are a genuine R&B band.  The band features the soulful vocals of the best R&B singers in the northeast, along with a strong horn section and a tight rhythm section.

Space in the pavilion will be set aside for dancing, which is highly encouraged and, according to the release, people of all ages are welcome to join in the fun.

All concerts will be held rain or shine, except in case of thunder storms.  Picnicking is welcome.  Some seating will be available, but people are encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs.  Dining and takeout is available at the nearby Seaside Johnnie's restaurant.
