Trinity Presbyterian Church to Present A Westchester Christmas with Pianist Ann Schein on Dec. 8

Highly-acclaimed pianist Ann Schein will be a featured soloist during this year’s A Westchester Christmas, an annual holiday benefit concert presented by Trinity Presbyterian Church on Sunday, December 8 at the School of the Holy Child in Rye.

The concert is Trinity Church’s largest single event of the year, attracting over 400 people from throughout the tri-state region.

“We are very pleased to present an array of talent this year,” said the Rev. Craig Chapman, Senior Associate Pastor. “We are fortunate and excited that pianist Ann Schein, a famed musician who has traveled the world during her long musical career, will perform a solo for us.”

Schein has thrilled audiences since her celebrated Carnegie Hall debut in 1962, launching a career that earned her praise in major American and European music centers and in more than 50 countries. She is a Master Teacher and Concert Pianist who has performed with famous conductors including George Szell, James Levine, Seiji Ozawa, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski and Sir Colin Davis, as well as with renowned orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic.

Her husband, violinist Earl Carlyss, played with the acclaimed Julliard String Quartet for 20 years, performing over 2,100 concerts and recording more than 100 works, including three Grammy Award-winning records. He is currently a faculty member at the Julliard School of Music.

“Trinity Presbyterian is a unique church with members who are musicians of high caliber and full of a great variety of music,” Schein said. “There is a purpose for music in our lives and I hope that I am able to provide a positive message through my performance this Christmas season.”

Along with Schein’s solo, the concert program includes jazz, pop, classical, and traditional Christmas music. Additionally, a string orchestra will be featured and the event will include congregational singing of carols. This year the remarkable variety and caliber of music will also highlight world-renowned multi-Grammy award-winning jazz bassist John Patitucci, a Westchester resident and Trinity Church elder.  

A Westchester Christmas will be held on December 8 at 4pm at The School of the Holy Child, located at 2225 Westchester Avenue East in Rye. Childcare for toddlers and a craft program for school-aged children will be provided.

Trinity Presbyterian Church

Trinity Church began in June 1995 as a daughter church of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan (which began in 1989 under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Tim Keller). They began with six couples and have grown to be a congregation of over 300 members and regular attendees.
