From the New York State Police: Major Michael A. Kopy of Troop "K" urges everyone to support the AAA’s annual “School’s Open—Drive Carefully” campaign to help preserve the safety of children traveling to and from school.
 
AAA’s yearly “School’s Open—Drive Carefully” campaign alerts motorists to the special risks to school-age children from motor vehicle crashes, the leading cause of death for children from five to fourteen years old.

Memorial Mass for Juliana Restrepo Today

The Restrepo mass will be at 9:45 a.m. today at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester. A mass for Fernanda Gomez will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church.  Restrepo and Gomez were two of four killed in a horrific car crash on Sunday morning. Our thoughts go out to the friends and family of the four young people involved in the deadly accident.

The Gomez family was not financially prepared for such a tragic loss. Port Chester Trustee Luis Marino is asking anyone interesting in donating to the family to contact him at lmarino@portchesterny.com. 

 Central Avenue Bridge Scheduled to Reopen Friday

The City of Rye Ribbon will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Central Avenue Bridge, which is scheduled to reopen Friday morning.

Osborn Alzheimer’s Walk

The Osborn is holding its Alzheimer’s Walk on Saturday, Sept. 29 in White Plains this year. The walk is a gentle 5k event that supports The H.O.P.E. Center for Memory Care at The Osborn and residents and families living with dementia.

o   If you find you need help with the Alzheimer's Walk website, please contact us. Their site can be a bit finicky!)

·       You can support the Alzheimer's Association via our page on their site by clicking here whether you attend or not.

·       All contributions made on the Alzheimer's Association website go directly to the Alzheimer's Association.

 Rye Parking Permit Information

From the City of Rye: Renewal season began for those with Resident Railroad and Highland/Cedar permits and anyone on the waitlist on September 1st. 

In order to renew go to the City website (www.ryeny.gov) and under the City News section look for the large white “P” in the blue square.  When you click on the link for more info you will be brought to a page where you will find links for renewal instructions and links for “proceed to permit renewal” and “proceed to waitlist renewal”.  Click on the appropriate link to renew.

Please note the only people who can renew for the waitlist are those who were on the list prior to it being closed four years ago.  If you are on the waitlist but also have a Highland/Cedar permit you will automatically be renewed for the waitlist when you renew your Highland/Cedar permit.

Non-residents may begin renewing their permits on October 1st.

The deadline for all renewals is October 31st at 5:00 p.m.
