Rye Boy Scout Troop 2 Court of Honor

Rye Boy Scout Troop 2 is having their fall Court Of Honor on today, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at Rye Presbyterian Church.  The fall Court Of Honor is typically the largest of the year and recognizes the scouts’ recent accomplishments, which include summer activities.  This past summer, Troop 2 had many participants at the Westchester-Putnam Council’s Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation in Brandt Lake, NY, where they earned merit badges and learned skills needed to advance in rank.

Troop 2 scouts also participated in the National Scout Jamboree, which was held at the Boy Scouts of America’s brand new Summit Bechtel Reserve in Mount Hope, WV, and participated in an 85-mike backpacking trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM.

Two scouts will be recognized for reaching the rank of Eagle Scout; Evan Clark and Jacob Nurick.

In order to attain the rank, the scouts had to earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, and plan, develop and lead others in a service project that helps the community.  The Rye troop started in 1920 and the 1st Eagle scout was awarded in 1924, there have been more than sixty scouts that have achieved this honor.
