Dancing for Children and Adults; Art Exhibit Illuminates Conservationism

•  Today from 9am to 4pm the Rye Public Library is holding an art exhibit entitled “Lions, Livestock and Living Walls: An Artistic Study of Community and Conservation in Tanzania.” The exhibit was created by Alison Nicholls, a wildlife and conservation artist whose work has been in wildlife art magazines in the USA and UK, the Botswana Mission to the United Nations in New York and has been used by the US Department of State to promote the “Coalition Against Wildlife Trafficking” initiative.

•  Like to spin, knit, crochet, embroider, needlepoint, rug hook or other handwork? Then visit Spin-a-Yarn club meeting today at the Rye Public Library from 2pm to 4pm. Join area knitters for a weekly handwork circle. Work on your project, meet new friends, chat about techniques and browse our craft books. The event will be held in the Ogden Nash Room.

•  Josie LaRiccia of Josie’s International School of Dance will be teaching flamenco tonight in the Reading Room of the Rye Public Library from 6pm to 7pm as this week’s family fun night. The event is suitable for children four and up, and their grownups. Pre-registration is required so sign up beforehand in the children’s room of the library or call 914-231-3162.

 

•  Tonight visit Poplo Restaurant for live music, singing, dancing and dining. The Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom Dancers will perform at the restaurant, and guests are invited to begin dancing with them at 8pm. The restaurant is located at 554 Old Post Road #3, Greenwich Ct.
