Twilight Tuesdays Concerts At Rye Town Park

Rye Town Park is sponsoring a series of seven free concerts at the Park’s south pavilion during the summer of 2013. Partial support also comes from Rye Ford-Subaru and Rye’s The Open House Interior Styles Store.

The concerts feature the music of high quality Westchester-area based bands, playing a wide range of popular music ideal for singing and/or dancing along. The concerts will be held on Tuesdays starting on June 25th. Two dates have been set aside in case of thunderstorms. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at about 9 p.m. Admission to the concerts is free, and parking is $5 ($4 for permit holders) after 4 p.m. Some seating will be available, but people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. The concerts will be held rain or shine, except in the case of thunderstorms. Picnicking is welcome, and dining or take-out is available at the nearby Seaside Johnnie’s restaurant.

Here’s the lineup of bands that will be performing:

June 25th – Twist of Fate - Led by Adam and Dayna Reist, this five member band is built around the tropical sounds of the steel drums. And they’re about as local as you can get – Dayna teaches second grade at nearby Milton School. But the band’s playlist comes from all over the Reggae, Ska, Jamaican and American Pop music scenes.

July 2nd - Carlos Jimenez and Mambo Dulcet – Yonkers-based leader Carlos Jimenez plays flute and is joined by guitarists, percussionists and other instruments. With the setting sun and gentle waves of Long Island Sound, this will be a night for sweet tropical romance.

July 9th – Reddy Valentino Orchestra – “swing” music featuring trumpets, trombones and reeds. They’ve played social functions, as well as Windows On The World, Glen Island Casino and Rye’s Wainwright House. Sixteen players for a big band sound.

July 16th – Standards And Soul – Led by well-known keyboard artist Peter Salomon, this 6-piece band serves up a combination of great rock, pop, and light jazz standards – with a generous helping of classic soul.

July 23rd –Billy & The Showmen - one of the region’s most popular and enduring Rhythm & Blues bands. Their R & B Revue features the soulful vocals of the best singers in the Northeast, along with a strong horn section and a tight rhythm section.

July 30th -- The Derivatives - definitely not “toxic assets.” This Rye-based 6-member band has been part of the Rye Town Park Twilight Tuesdays Series for many years, and this will be no exception. You can bank on it. Bring the family and dance the night away.

August 13th - The Angelo Rubino Band – with Ang as lead singer and sax player, band performs a wide range of musical styles from the 1940’s to the 90’s – everything from big band dance tunes, soft rock, and Doo-wop, to Latin pop.

August 6th and 20st – Make Up Dates In Case of Storm Cancellation
