Rye Country Day School traces its beginnings to 1869, when a group of local parents, wishing to improve the qualityMore of education available for their daughters, contacted The Rev. William Life and his wife, Susan, who ran a small school in Pennsylvania. The Lifes came to Rye and established The Rye Female Seminary under the direction of Mrs. Life. During its first year, 60 students (25 boarders and 35 day students) enrolled in the seminary, which was located on the present school property on Grandview Avenue.</p> <p>The year 1921 saw the seminary merge with a boys' school from nearby Harrison — The Rye Country School — and became known as The Rye Country Day Schools. The "s" was later dropped from the word "Schools."</p> <p>RCDS enrolls students from preschool through 12th grade. </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>

School of the Holy Child in Rye is a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for young women in grades fiveMore through 12. Established in 1904 and guided by the ideals of Cornelia Connelly, founder of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, the school was established to foster "joy in teaching and joy in learning" and to educate young women to "meet the wants of the age."</p> <p>The school was originally located in New York City, but moved to its current 17-acre campus in Rye in 1957.</p>

Principal Karen Bronson is responsible for allMore aspects of the middle school operation including curriculum, personnel, and student and parent affairs. Jane Wermuth, the middle school and high school assistant to the principal, provides additional supervision in the building and assists the principal with administrative responsibilities. The staff includes guidance counselors, school psychologists, nurses, special education teachers and teachers for grades 6 - 8.

The R.S.L. philosophy emphasizes attitude over aptitude, effort over achievement, and character over talent. R.S.L. serves grades nine through 12 by providing a small school setting for those students who find it challenging to achieve personal or academic success in a traditional school environment. </p> <p>The program offers the courses required by New York State for high school graduation, while encouraging students to assume personal responsibility for their educational futures. Rye School of Leadership is a family program that expects parental involvement.</p>

Part of the Blind Brook School District in Rye Brook, Blind Brook High School is overseen by Principal Scott Bersin. Mr.More Bersin is responsible for all aspects of the school's operation including curriculum, personnel and student affairs. Assistant Principal Jane Wermuth is responsible for the high school operation attendance program and for other routine school wide operations. The staff includes a Director of Counseling, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Athletic Director, school nurse and teachers for grades 9 – 12.
