Rob Astorino claims "Families don't go to Playland anymore." But when I was there on a…Read More rainy cold opening day on Saturday, I was SURROUNDED by nothing but families - even HIS family was there. They all came out in the lousy weather to have a good time. Parents and kids and grandparents and every combo of aunt uncle cousin etc. you could imagine, all different colors, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, many different languages being spoken, everyone happy to see the place open again, getting along, smiling, having a good time. I think I was about the only person there who *wasn't* with kids. Families families families. But...don't you know...families don't go to Playland anymore? People love Playland. They want to see it brought back to life as a vibrant amusement park, not dismantled for a grassy field and indoor sports facility.

You must be the only person in Westchester that doesn't have wonderful feelings/memories about…Read More Playland. It is so sad.

GOOD FOR YOU to lead this important battle!!!!!!! Greta job!!! They are definitely going to build…Read More on all that "open space" down the road,,,,good point of how they are letting it slip in their nonchalance about landmarks...Does the group have flyers to pass out this Sat and next at Playland so the families enjoying themselves can know that SPI plans to take it all down..(this Sat is Mayfair..they don't publicize it...) yg

So that's a denial by you right? I'm not sure we can trust you on this one smelly. Your screen name…Read More and Mr. Floatie have what is called in some circles "synergy." Come clean. Clear the air.
But smelly, did you see what the over 1.2 million weekend readers of Newsday saw a few days ago? A story with a photo galley about Hen Island big enough to choke a festering horse trough full of skeeters. Now the network affiliate TV stations are circling and building story files. Plunkett's DOH crew is likely calling in the crisis team. Look here - subscription required -
"There is no central sewage system or electricity, other than at the handful of houses that have their own generators or solar power. There are no roads or telephones, either. People get their water from cisterns that collect rain from rooftops. And that's how the people of Hen Island like it. Well, not everyone."

In response to Frank Vecchione, Animal Rights is one of the most important issues our country &…Read More our world faces. The EU banned seal fur trade, yet still, every year, the Canadian Government permits neanderthal-like men to crush cute Baby Seal Pup skulls with baseball bats. Even though it's not profitable, it happens. In South Dakota, the law can't charge you with a felony for being cruel & malicious to your pets. The pig "processors" pull the pig's teeth out with pliers weeks before the slaughter so they can't chew through the wire, Egg-laying hens are starved to manipulate the laying cycle & their beaks are broken off. In China, they skin animals alive.
Some people may not think those things are important because it's not happening to them, but it IS happening to a sentient, conscious, mind-of-a-5-year-old-human being.with emotions and pain sensory & it's important that that's discussed, as unpleasant as it is.
People talk about how graphic PETA is, but how is that different than the nightly news showing images of war and/or genocide?

Kim, I'd like to say thank you to you for volunteering your time at the New Rochelle Humane Society.…Read More They very much do important work there, and it must be incredibly hard to work there, seeing all those innocent, precious animals every day that just need a loving home. It must be so tempting to bring all the animals home.
Thank you to Michael Woyton & Patch for consistently reporting on these animals. They need our awareness & help. I can't believe that people still move without their pets, or get rid of them because someone is "allergic."

Its gonna be great smelly. An senior administrative conspiracy attested to under oath, stolen &…Read More destroyed city records recovered by court subpoena, a confession under oath to premeditated destruction of a protected wetland, a local influence peddling lawyer documented in directing illegal activities and a homeowner who paid for scientific proof she needed the permits that she illegally bought her way out of. Here's the pattern -
“Kevin Plunkett of the now-defunct Thacher Profitt & Wood represented the town and its officials. Robinson said he would order the defendants to pay $10,000 in sanctions because "the record is replete with evidence regarding defendants' intentional destruction of evidence and disregard for discovery obligations."”

Rick Buzin, if you are willing to trade the Megarinks for traffic lights and other improvements at…Read More the intersection of King Street and the Hutch, then I would urge you to communicate that to your Rye Brook Together compatriots who are sitting on the Rye Brook Board -- and be sure in the process they pass the word to First Selectman Peter Tesei in Greenwich. The Megarink people and their attorney Bill Null would probably object, but they deserve this fate after meeting secretely with Mayor Feinstein (who went public with it, thank you Ms. Feinstein!) to subvert the public approvals process (see the video of the November Rye Brook Board Meeting everyone, please!!).

Matt.....don't even get me started with that intersection. It is a nightmare that our Ct. friends…Read More (who also happen to be adamantly opposed to the ice hockey rinks) have refused to help address. NY DOT informed Rye Brook that they would be on board to revamping this outdated and dangerous intersection years ago; but Conn DOT and our neighbors have been "dead-set" against it. It seems to me to be quite disingenuous of these same people to use "public safety" as a rationale for NOT building these rinks. Your experience does not surprise me in the least. Maybe we can trade off the rinks for a HUGE gain in public safety at the Merritt/ King Street exit?

Ms. Lane, you must have a psychic ball or maybe are just better at seeing the obvious than the…Read More Village planners and Dept of Transportation. There was an accident yesterday afternoon when it was daylight and sunny at the off ramp of the Merritt onto King St. I pulled over and watched someone be taken away on a stretcher. The amount of traffic this 2 car fender bender was creating was unbelievable. The Rye Brook officer was getting annoyed. While directing traffic he was telling the cars to keep moving and there was nothing to see yet everyone had to slow down to get onto the Merritt. I mean slow down more than usual for that spot of cars that are coming and going.
