Westchester Food Pantry Holding Book Sale in Rye on Sunday

Bread of Life, serving southern Westchester, will take perishable items at the book sale, to be held at the Rye Farmers Market Nov. 24 and Dec. 1.

A food pantry that serves more than 500 people daily in southern Westchester County is holding a book sale and food drive this Sunday, Nov. 24, and Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Rye Farmers Market on Theodore Fremd Avenue.

Bread of Life Food Pantry supplies food to families as well as church and government food pantries and shelters in southern Westchester, the nonprofit organization says.

“Perishable food items will be collected [on Sunday],” said Sue Wexler, director of community outreach for Bread of Life. A flier of the event is attached as a PDF.

Launched when a bagel shop owner started giving bagels to hungry people, Bread of Life’s food includes what many local businesses otherwise would throw out, the organization says.
