Thanksgiving at the Rye Golf Club

It’s a short week, with Thanksgiving just around the corner (see our Holidays section here for festive recipes, ideas for holiday planning, Christmas-related business news and more), but we’ve got a few things going on in the Rye area to share with you:

2013 Holiday Tree Competition: This is the last week that you can enter to compete in the competition by donating your evergreen tree to the village. If you want to do that, call the Recreation Department by Dec. 1 at 914-939-2354. Here’s some more info from the village: “The Village of Port Chester is returning to the long-standing tradition of celebrating the holiday season with a tree lighting ceremony ... The ceremony will be held on Thursday, December12, 2013 at 5:30 PM in Lyon Park near the Gazebo.  Santa Claus will be attending and presents will be distributed to the children … The tree must be reasonably accessible in order to be considered. If selected, the Village Department of Public Works will cut the tree down and deliver it to the park (at no expense to the owner). Submissions will be reviewed and selected by the Park Commission. The owner of the tree will be publicly recognized for the donation.”
