Birdie's Car Wash Fundraiser for Rye Rec Scholarships

Stop by Birdie's Car Wash and support the Rye Rec Scholarship Fund

at 180 Theodore Fremd Ave is chipping in to help Rye Recreation Center with proceeds from a 'green' car wash starting today Monday, July 10 and lasting until Saturday, July 21. Birdie's will donate $5 of every wash and $15 from detailing services to the Rye Recation Center Scholarship Fund.

Summer camp at Rye Recreation is a cherished childhood experience for many children and very year Rye Recreation is able to offer as many as 30 camp scholarships to defray the expenses for local families with financial need.

The money to fund those scholarships are raised by quite a few local organizations and Birdie's is in excellent company by supporting the cause.

Fundraising efforts from local organizations like the Midland/Milton/Osborn PTOs, Rye Middle School Parents' Organization, Rye Police Benevolent Association, the Rye Lions Club, Agatha Durland Foundation, the Women's Association of the Rye Presbyterian Church, Rye Seniors, Rye Youth Soccer, Rye Youth Lacrosse, Children's Philanthropy of the Woman's Club of Rye, Kiwanis Club and the Executive Club.

Altogether the groups manage to raise as much as $20,000 each year for the scholarships which fund camp experiences that bring a lot of bang for the philantropic buck.

This year's camp outings are jam-packed with trips to Playland, the New York Hall of Science, a pro soccer game in nearby Harrison and a visit to the Bronx Zoo that will sure include a tour of the LEGO Safari exhibit currently underway... and that's just a few of the activities in which the kids will participate.

Birdie's opened last summer and offers "green pampering" cleaning services that conserve water and use environmentally friendly products, according to Rye business owner Eric Birdsall. Birdsall says on his website that his green cleaning technique saves between 39 to 49 gallons of water compared to traditional car washes.

However, car insurance companies set rates based on their own experience. If Company A has more collision and theft claims for a particular vehicle than Company B, then A will charge more for the same coverage find the best rate at "Clearance Auto" insurance site.
