Athletes give advice on keeping it cool in the summer heat.
With recent heat waves hitting the Westchester area, most residents are finding comfort with indoor activities near air conditioning. The women of the Rye Recreation Softball League are ready to play even on the hottest days.
We headed to the softball field at Rye High School yesterday where Poppy's Ballbuster's took the win over the Pub Ryots. With playoffs starting next week, the competition was surely about to get heated up.

We asked the athletes and coaches what they do to take care of themselves in the heat and how it effects their strategy. While water and stretching are the basics of keeping cool, the players also find the support and motivation they provide for their teammates to be a booster in the hot weather. The Pyub Ryots even let Patch.com in on their team secret - always having a few cold adult beverages waiting for them at the end of the game to celebrate, win or lose.
