The Week Ahead in Rye Sports

A look at the upcoming week in Rye sports.

The high school spring sports season officially gets underway this week. Rye Patch previews each team's schedule and upcoming opponents as they begin their journey toward the playoffs or potential championships.

Rye High School Baseball

The Rye boys baseball team, which will play at Mamaroneck High School on Tuesday, is coming off a 10-10-1 record last season. The game starts at 4 p.m. at Mamaroneck. Upcoming games on the team's slate include a home game against Fox Lane on Tuesday and John Jay Cross River on Wednesday.

Rye High School Softball

The Garnets girls softball team, which was 7-9 last season, opens the season in a non-league game at Pleasantville. The game starts at 4:30 p.m. Upcoming games include Fox Lane on Tuesday and Briarcliff on Friday.

Rye High School Boys Tennis

The boys tennis team competes in a match against a yet to be named non-region opponent on Thursday. The match will get underway at 4:15 p.m. at Rye Recreation Park. Upcoming matches include the Harrison Huskies on Friday at the same location, followed by Byram Hills.

Rye Boys Lacrosse

In boy's lacrosse, Rye which posted a 12-7 record last season begins the season at home against a non-region opponent on Saturday followed by a game at John Jay the following Tuesday. Other upcoming games include matches against Byram Hills on Thursday.

Rye Girls Lacrosse

The girls lacrosse team who went 6-3-2 last season, will play their season and home opener against Walter Panas High School on Wednesday. The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. The Garnets will next play Nanuet on Friday at home at 6 p.m. Upcoming games the following week include a home game against Somers on Monday followed a game away at John Jay Friday.

Rye Track and Field

The Garnets' track and field team competes at Westlake on Tuesday. The meet will be at 4:15 p.m. Upcoming meets at home include the Blind Brook Trojans next Wednesday and Harrison Huskies on Monday.

Blind Brook Baseball

Blind Brook baseball team, which was 10-4 last season, has one more week of practice before their season opener away at Valhalla next Tuesday. The game will be at 4:30 p.m. Upcoming opponents include Pleasantville and Briar Cliff later in the month.

Blind Brook Softball

The Blind Brook softball team, which opens up the season away at Byram Hills, was 5-13 last season. The game is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Upcoming games for the Trojans include an away game at Bronxville on Thursday along with match ups against Port Chester on Friday.

Blind Brook Girls Lacrosse

Girls Lacrosse, 4-12 last season, opens their second varsity season at Keio Academy on Wednesday. The ball will be live starting at 4:15 p.m.  Upcoming games for the Trojans include home games against Harrison, Nyack, and John F. Kennedy High School.

Blind Brook Boys Tennis

In their first season in Class AA play, Blind Brook boys tennis plays Briarcliff in a home match on Tuesday. The match will be at 4:15 p.m. Upcoming matches after the Briarcliff match include an away game at Harrison on Wednesday. The Trojans then return on their home court Thursday to face Keio Academy.

Blind Brook Boys Golf

One more week of practice stands in the way of Blind Brook beginning their 2010 campaign. The Trojans will start competition next Wednesday against Pelham. The first tee time is slated for 3:45 p.m. at the Pelham Country Club. Upcoming outings on the course include Pleasantville next Tuesday followed by a home contest against Valhalla at the Blind Brook Country Club.

Blind Brook Track and Field

The Trojans' track team competes at Port Chester High School on Tuesday. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m. Upcoming meets on the schedule include an away meet on Wednesday at Rye High School before two home meets against Rye Neck and Alexander Hamilton. 

Rye Country Day Baseball

The Rye Country Day baseball team, which plays Hamden Hall at home on Tuesday, was 10-4 in FAA league play last season. The game will be at 4:15 p.m. Upcoming games on the slate include away games at King on Friday and Keio Academy on Saturday.  

Rye Country Day Softball

Wildcats softball, which plays Greenwich Academy on Thursday, is coming off a 12-4 season. Action will get underway at 4 p.m. Upcoming competition includes another tough match against St. Luke's on Wednesday.

Rye Country Day Boys Lacrosse

Rye Country Day Boys Lacrosse opens up the season away at Gunnery on Wednesday. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m. Upcoming games on the schedule include two more away games at King on Friday and Keio Academy on Saturday. 

Rye Country Day Girls Lacrosse

The Rye Country Day girls lacrosse team, which plays away at Portledge on Tuesday, is coming off a 7-8 season. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m. Upcoming games on the slate include a pivotal one at home against King next Tuesday followed by an away contest at Convent of the Sacred Heart next Thursday.

Rye Country Day Boys Tennis

Rye Country Day boys tennis will compete away at Hackley on Tuesday, and looks to improve upon last season's 8-6 record. The game will start at 4:15 p.m. Upcoming matches on the schedule include a Thursday afternoon match up at cross-town rival Rye High School. This game will be followed by an away match at Hopkins next Tuesday.

Rye Country Day Girls Golf

Rye Country Day girls golf, who first meets Greenwich Academy on their home course Tuesday, was 10-0 last year. The first tee is set for 3:30 p.m. Upcoming meets on the slate include a home meet against Holy Child on Monday followed by away competition at Convent of the Sacred Heart Thursday.

Rye Country Day Boys Golf

The Rye Country Day boys golf team, which will compete at Portledge on Wednesday posted a 14-3 team record last season. The game will start 4 p.m. Upcoming meets for the Wildcats include a home meet the following Monday against Brunswick.
